Virology:

Presently, only diagnostic tests for West Nile virus, Western equine encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, exotic Newcastle disease and rabies are offered.  The capability to use polymerase chain reaction (PCR)  technology for the diagnosis of other viral diseases will be available in the near future. Specimens which require virus isolation will still be sent to an outside laboratory.

(The procedures listed below are not all inclusive. They represent the tests most commonly requested. For other tests, please call the laboratory at 775-688-1182, ext 231 for details.)

Note: * Denotes specimens sent to outside laboratories
